Our Projects by Methodology

Consultation Analysis

We have extensive experience of conducting consultation analysis for the Scottish Government and Transport Scotland covering a range of different policy sectors. We have analysed consultations which asked between five and 50+ questions, and which received between 50 and 1,000+ responses. We collate data from a range of different response formats, conduct descriptive analysis on responses to all closed questions, and iterative thematic analysis on responses to open questions. Results from all consultation strands are pulled together into a final report.

Quantitative Research / Surveys

We have experience of designing, conducting, analysing and reporting on quantitative survey based projects. Our experience includes online surveys; self-completion postal surveys; telephone/CATI surveys; and face-to-face interviewer administered and CAPI based surveys. We have conducted surveys related to transport and travel behaviour, experiences of the criminal justice system, and staff surveys.

Qualitative Research

We have extensive experience of designing and conducting qualitative research. This includes designing engaging topic guides suitable for different audiences, sampling and employing a range of participant recruitment methods, ensuring appropriate informed consent and other ethical practice. We are experienced at working with vulnerable and hard to reach research participants, and in tackling sensitive and emotive topics. As such, our methods prioritise inclusion, accessibility and safety (for both research participants and our interviewers). We have conducted qualitative projects related to children and young people, equalities, criminal justice and transport.

Mixed Method Research

In addition to the standard quantative or qualitative projects, we have a wealth of experience in developing bespoke mixed methodologies and meeting the requirements of mixed method projects. We often combine desk based research, secondary data analysis, and surveys alongside qualitative work to gather more depth and detailed feedback. This helps to understand the issues behind the numbers, gives insight into what drives quantitative findings, and allows us to test the findings and possible recommendations. We have conducted mixed method research in the areas of children and young people, equalities, justice and transport.
