Reston Rail Link: Baseline Study (2022) for Transport Scotland - with Stantec
Reston rail station, in the Scottish Borders, entered service in May 2022. Ahead of this, a series of baseline surveys were conducted in order to measure any future changes can be measured. This included surveys of residents, visitors and businesses in and around Reston. The final report can be found here.
Evaluation of the Impact of the Raod Equivalent Tariff (RET) on Arran (2015) for Transport Scotland - with PBA
This work sought to evaluate the impacts of the RET on ferry routes to/from Arran. Fieldwork inlcuded winter and summer on-board surveys, household survys across Arran, and a survey of businesses. The final report can be found here.
Understanding Court Modernisation and Pre-Trial Adjustments for Accused with Cognitive Impairments, Mental Health Conditions or Neurodiverse Conditions (2019) for the Equality and Human Rights Commission - with Justice Studio
This work involved a literature review, a more detailed policy review, and an online survey to inform the EHRC's Stautory Inquiry into pre-trial court modernisation across Britain. In particular, the work sought to identify any evidence of the impact that such modernisation practices may have on accused persons with congitive impairments, mental health conditions or neurodiverse conditions. Customer Satsfaction Surveys (2005-2023) for the Scottish Court and Tribunals Service (SCTS) - with SYSTRA
This survey was initially conducted annual, followed by surveys every two years. This involved surveying professional and non-professional users in all Sheriff Courts, High Courts, and the Court of Session, as well as in Justice of the Peace Courts from 2008 onwards. A mix of face-to-face exit surveys, self completion methods, and online approaches were used (with online only available during the Covid-19 pandemic). They survey measured satisfaction with a range of key service elements, with descriptive analysis conducted, along with multivariate analysis of drivers of satisfaction, and time series analysis of results. Civil Applicant Survey (2016-2017) for the Scottish Legal Aid Board (SLAB) - with SYSTRA
The work involved interviews with SLAB staff to fully understand the civil applicant process and to inform the questionnaire design. Four versions of the questionnaire were developed to suit different types of applicants. A self-completion postal survey approach was used and acheived over 500 responses. Descriptive analysis was conducted, including statistical significance testing, while thematic analysis was applied to all open questions. The final report can be accessed here.
